City Branding: Wakefield

Student brief: brand a city, including logo and potential roll-out ideas.

I chose to highlight a Northern city - Wakefield - which may be practically unknown to some people, but has a rich heritage and blossoming cultural scene. To present it as a potential tourist, or 'staycation' destination, I created a bold, confident logo, intriguing strapline, and rolled this identity out into an dedicated tourism website and ad campaign. Tone of voice was key throughout to reflect the personable and unique Yorkshire dialect and Yorkshire people, with handwritten type used to support this individual and friendly feel.
